Orioles Win: 42 - 31
Quincy made the journey to Springport in Big Eight Boys' Basketball action on Friday night. Springport has improved a lot since the first time Quincy played them in January. The game was tighter this time, but the Orioles were victorious over the Spartans, 42-31.
In the first quarter, Quincy and Springport engaged in a defensive battle, with the Spartans topping the Orioles, 8-7. The second quarter also belonged to Springport, with the hot hand of Rainey leading the way with 7. Springport outscored Quincy 13-9 in the quarter, taking a 21-16 lead into halftime. The Orioles knew that they were in for a tough game at this point, if they didn't know it before.
Quincy came out of the locker room with some adjustments and a determined attitude, promptly tying the score up 21-21, then taking the lead and never relinquishing it the rest of the way. The Orioles topped the Spartans 13-4 in the quarter, taking a 29-25 lead into the final quarter.
Quincy prevailed 13-6 in the final quarter, as the Orioles were 9-12 from the free throw line, bolstered by Sam Sawyer's 5-6 performance.
Quincy is now 10-8 overall, 5-6 in the Big Eight. The Orioles will travel to Bronson on Tuesday to take on the Vikings.

Orioles Lose: 60 - 71
Quincy had a non-conference tilt against the Morenci Bulldogs, falling 71-60. Morenci had an offensive explosion tonight, easily eclipsing the most points allowed by Quincy all season (53 against Sand Creek was previously the most allowed in a 56-53 Quincy win).
The Bulldogs were on fire all night, draining 12 3-pointers, including nine by Landon Mansfield. Unfortunately, the Orioles could not find a way to slow down Morenci's offensive onslaught.
The positive is that Quincy found some offense tonight, putting up 60 points.
The loss drops Quincy to 9-8 overall, as they head to Springport for a Big Eight game on Friday night.

Orioles Lose: 21 - 31
The "Oriole Week" game featured the Big Eight leading Jonesville Comets versus the hometown Quincy Orioles. The two teams locked into a defensive battle throughout the contest, making every point difficult to score. The first quarter was a stalemate, ending in a 5-5 tie. The second quarter, Jonesville nudged ahead by outscoring the Orioles, 6-4. At halftime, the score was 11-9, Jonesville. The third quarter was where the Comets found some breathing room, outscoring Quincy 9-2, to take a 20-11 lead into the 4th quarter. The two teams played pretty evenly in the fourth quarter, with Jonesville edging the Orioles 11-10.

Orioles Win: 47 - 46
Quincy played Branch County rival, Union City, in Big Eight basketball action tonight. The Orioles topped the Chargers in a nail-biter, 47-46. With Quincy leading 47-45, Union City had to go full-court with two seconds remaining on the clock. The Chargers inbounded the ball and Quincy fouled (they had two fouls to give). In a controversial call, it was decided that the Union City player was in the act of shooting while being fouled, sending him to the line with no time on the clock and three foul shots. He missed the first, made the second, and missed the third, allowing Quincy to hang on for the victory. Coach Rodesiler has deemed the team the "Heart Attack Kids", since they have played in so many close games this season. The team got great contributions from all members of the team.

Orioles Lose: 38 - 42
Quincy boys varsity basketball made the short trip to Reading in a rivalry basketball game. The atmosphere was electric, with it being the Rangers' Homecoming game, a large crowd, and Reading's pep band.
Both Reading and Quincy looked tentative in the first quarter, but Reading settled in a little bit quicker and went up 9-3, behind baskets from four different players.
The Orioles and Rangers locked into a defensive battle that lasted throughout the contest. The Orioles made some substitutions and had some newfound energy, making a comeback and cutting into the Reading lead, by out-scoring the Rangers 12-8. This brought the halftime score to 17-15, in favor of Reading.
The third quarter was back and forth, but Quincy outlasted the Rangers to the tune of 14-10, to take the lead 29-27 heading into the decisive fourth quarter.
Reading executed better than Quincy in the fourth, leading them to victory.

Quincy hit the road for a non-conference game at Martin, bringing home a 66-33 victory. The Orioles jumped out to a 14-2 first quarter lead and never looked back. Quincy was paced by contributions from the entire team.

Quincy lost their Big Eight Conference matchup against league leader, Concord, 44-37. The game came down to a one or two possession game, until Concord made a couple more plays than Quincy. The Orioles were forced to foul, which led to the margin of victory for the Yellowjackets.
Quincy was led by Ashtyn Morris with 15 points, 12 boards, and two blocks. Grant Carter had 12 points and 5 rebounds. Riley Minder had 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Sam Sawyer chipped in 3 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Quincy falls to 7-4 overall and 3-3 in the Big Eight. The Orioles travel to Homer on Friday.

Quincy played an improving Springport team tonight in a Big Eight showdown. The Orioles came out firing on all cylinders, outscoring the Spartans 23-8 in the first quarter.
Quincy and Springport played more evenly throughout the second, third, and fourth quarters, with the Orioles edging out the Spartans each quarter by a handful of points.
The win was a total team effort, as all 12 players dressed for the game saw action tonight.

Orioles Win: 45 - 41
Quincy was matched up with a tough Bronson team tonight, coming out on top 45-41. The team came out with great defensive intensity in the first quarter to set the tone for the game. The Orioles led 9-5 after the first quarter.
The second quarter saw more offense, with Quincy winning it 14-8. The Orioles kept up the strong defense.
Bronson came out strong in the 3rd quarter, going on a 9-2 run to bring the game within three points. Quincy regrouped, but still lost the quarter 11-8, bringing the score to 31-24 Quincy after three quarters.
Quincy fended off the Viking comeback attempt with timely foul shooting in the 4th quarter. The Orioles shot an impressive 12-15 from the charity stripe to put the game away.
The Orioles were led by Ashtyn Morris, who had 13 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocked shots. Sam Sawyer had a big night with 13 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal. Riley Miner had a strong game with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist. Orioles Lose: 29 - 49
Quincy traveled to Jonesville for the "Battle of U.S. 12", with the league-leading Comets coming out on top, 49-29. Jonesville rode the hot hand of Jaxson Phifer to take a big 1st quarter lead, 21-4. The Orioles competed better in the second quarter, but Jonesville outscored Quincy 11-10, making the score 32-14 Jonesville at halftime.
The Orioles didn't show any quit and topped Jonesville 9-7 in the 3rd quarter. Quincy was competitive in the fourth, but Jonesville prevailed 10-6 in the quarter.
Ashtyn Morris led the Orioles with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block; Corey Turner had a good outing, scoring 5 points and nabbing a steal; Sam Sawyer chipped in 4 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals; Riley Miner added 3 points, 2 steals, and 2 assists; Nash Fitton contributed 3 points and 2 rebounds; Tre'Von Bodley had 2 points and 5 boards.

Orioles Win: 53 - 42
The Quincy varsity boys' basketball team hit the road for a Big Eight tilt against the Union City Chargers. Both teams came out in the first quarter a little tentative, making it a low scoring affair, with Quincy leading 6-5 after one.
The second quarter picked up in scoring, but it was back and forth, with Union City edging Quincy, 14-13, sending the teams into the locker room tied 19-19.
Quincy was able to get the ball inside for some good looks in the third and their defense was able to get key stops, allowing the Orioles to win the quarter, 13-4, putting them up 32-23 heading into the final quarter.
Quincy was able to push their lead up to as many as 15 in the final quarter, but the Chargers didn't quit and kept fighting. After the dust settled, Quincy won the high-scoring quarter 21-19, resulting in the final score.
The Orioles had a team effort to get this hard-earned win, with many contributions from individuals on the team. Ashtyn Morris led with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots. Orioles Win: 51 - 42
The Quincy boys basketball team played against Maple Valley in the championship game of the first annual Quincy Holiday Hoops Tournament. The Orioles defeated the Lions, 51-42. Quincy raced out to a 15-6 lead after one quarter of play, setting the tone defensively. His play, along with his teammates' newfound energy, allowed Maple Valley to outscore Quincy, 19-7 in the third quarter. The Orioles found themselves in a ball game and only up five points going into the 4th quarter. Quincy showed some grit, getting some timely buckets and some key stops. Quincy regained control of the game, winning the quarter 11-9, resulting in the 51-42 victory. Quincy was led by Riley Miner's 10 points, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds. Ashtyn Morris had his best game of the year, scoring 10 points, had 9 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots. Grant Carter, scored 9 points, had 6 rebounds, 3 blocked shots, and 1 steal. Sam Sawyer added 7 points, 3 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2 steals. Brandon Miner chipped in 7 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 assist. In the Consolation game, Mendon defeated Vandercook Lake.

Orioles Win: 65 - 35
Quincy was matched-up against Vandercook Lake in the first round of the first annual "Quincy Holiday Hoops Tournament". In a back and forth first quarter, the Orioles edged out the Jayhawks, 14-10. The second quarter was all Quincy, as the Orioles extended their lead to a 30-13 halftime advantage. The third quarter was similar to the second quarter, as the Oriole defense created opportunities on the offensive end, allowing the host team to take a commanding 45-18 lead into the 4th quarter. Quincy outlasted Vandercook Lake, 20-17 in a high-scoring 4th quarter.
Quincy was led by Grant Carter, who stuffed the stat sheet with 20 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 assist. Riley Miner played well, scoring 11 points, pulling down 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and an assist. Ryder Schmachtenberger was steady, giving the Orioles 8 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals. Ashtyn Morris added 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals.
The Orioles are 3-2 on the young season.
In the other tournament game, Maple Valley held on for an exciting 51-46 first round win against Mendon.
Vandercook Lake takes on Mendon in the Consolation game at 2:00 p.m.

Orioles Lose: 39 - 46
Quincy lost to Reading 46-39 in varsity boys' basketball action in a defensive battle. Reading led 8-4 after one, then extended the lead to 22-10 at halftime, as the Orioles struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the first half.
Q- 4, 6, 8, 21= 39
R- 8, 14, 9, 15= 46
The second half was closer, as Quincy outscored Reading, 29-24, but it was too little too late for the home team. Reading edged out Quincy 9-8 in the third quarter to take a 31-18 lead into the fourth quarter. Quincy found some offense in the fourth quarter, scoring more in the fourth than they did the first three quarters combined.
Brandon Miner led with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Ashtyn Morris had 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Ryder Schmachtenberger chipped in 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. Grant Carter had 4 points and 2 assists.
Quincy's record is 2-2. Quincy plays next when they host the Quincy Holiday Tournament on December 29-30.

Quincy hit the road to White Pigeon for a memorable night of basketball, coming out on top, 48-26.
Nash Fitton was outstanding tonight, with 11 points, 9 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 assist off of the bench. Brandon Miner was another spark off of the bench with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 assist. Sam Sawyer chipped in with 9 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Ryder Schmachtenberger added 9 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Grant Carter contributed 5 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Ryan Kempter had 2 points, 4 rebounds, and a steal, while Tre'Von Bodley had 2 points and 3 boards.

Quincy Varsity Boys Basketball hit the road tonight and was victorious over the Sand Creek Aggies, 56-53.The Orioles showed discipline and execution in the 4th quarter to pull out the tough win on the road, after being down two points going into the final quarter.

Quincy’s ice cold shooting in the 2nd and 3rd quarters doomed the Orioles. Quincy was plagued with foul trouble throughout the game as well, and had to manage it the entire contest.
