The Quincy varsity boys' basketball team hit the road for a Big Eight tilt against the Union City Chargers. Both teams came out in the first quarter a little tentative, making it a low scoring affair, with Quincy leading 6-5 after one.

The second quarter picked up in scoring, but it was back and forth, with Union City edging Quincy, 14-13, sending the teams into the locker room tied 19-19. 

Quincy was able to get the ball inside for some good looks in the third and their defense was able to get key stops, allowing the Orioles to win the quarter, 13-4, putting them up 32-23 heading into the final quarter.

Quincy was able to push their lead up to as many as 15 in the final quarter, but the Chargers didn't quit and kept fighting. After the dust settled, Quincy won the high-scoring quarter 21-19, resulting in the final score.

The Orioles had a team effort to get this hard-earned win, with many contributions from individuals on the team. Ashtyn Morris led with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots. Sam Sawyer had 13 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Nash Fitton added 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist. Grant Carter pitched in 6 points and 3 steals. Ryan Kempter added 4 points and 4 rebounds, while Tre'Von Bodley had 4 points and 4 boards. Riley Miner added 3 points and 3 rebounds. Corey Turner chipped in 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 steals, while Brandon Miner had 1 point and 4 rebounds.

Quincy is 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the Big Eight Conference. Quincy's next game is Tuesday at league-leading Jonesville.
