On "Senior Night" in Quincy, the Orioles welcomed the Springport Spartans to town. First, the Orioles honored seniors Grant Carter and Nash Fitton. The first quarter was a back and forth battle, with the home team edging out the visitors by a slim margin, 10-9. The second quarter, Quincy struggled to get anything going offensively, as they were stagnant and not putting many points on the board. Springport took advantage, outscoring the Orioles 18-6, to take a commanding 27-16 lead into the locker room. Quincy regrouped at halftime, coming out in the third quarter with a different attitude, outscoring the Spartans 12-6, to make the score 33-28 in favor of Springport heading into the fourth quarter. The Spartans started to pull away in the fourth quarter, but Quincy had other ideas. The Orioles battled back and made it a two possession game that came down to the final minute to determine the outcome. Unfortunately, the Quincy rally fell short. Springport claimed the win, 46-41 in a competitive game.

The Quincy varsity boys’ basketball team played Bronson in the “Battle for U.S. 12”. The Orioles battled hard, but eventually fell short, 64-53. A fast start by the Vikings put them ahead, 19-9 after the first quarter, which ended up being a big reason for the final outcome.

Orioles Win: 60 - 37
Quincy played host to Big Eight rival Reading in an exciting atmosphere at "The Cathedral" in Quincy tonight. In December, the Orioles took a narrow win, 43-36. Tonight, Quincy defeated the Rangers, 60-37.
The Orioles came out on fire, jumping out to an 18-6 lead after one quarter, led by Brandon Miner's 7 points and Ryan Kempter's 5. Quincy and Reading battled in the second quarter, with both teams scoring 14 points, with Quincy taking a 32-20 lead into halftime.
Quincy came out ready to play, outscoring Reading to the tune of 17-7, to extend their lead to 49-27 after three quarters of action. The Orioles were spearheaded by 8 points from Grant Carter and 7 points from Brandon Miner. Quincy edged the Rangers 11-10 in the fourth, as the Orioles emptied their bench and got great contributions from the entire team.
The Orioles play at Climax-Scotts on Tuesday.

Orioles Lose: 40 - 61
Quincy competed against Big Eight leader Concord tonight. The Orioles competed hard and were competitive, but the Yellowjackets outscored Quincy by a handful of points each quarter to extend the lead as the game went on. The Orioles fell to Concord, 61-40. Quincy got it down to 11 points in the fourth quarter, until a flurry of points by Concord allowed them to take a commanding 20 point lead.

Quincy lost to Sand Creek 64-57, despite an eight point halftime lead. It was a tale of two halves, as the Aggies outplayed the Orioles in the second half. A large crowd was on hand, as it was "Hall of Fame" night in Quincy. The team dropped to 7-7 overall on the season. The next game is at home against Big Eight leader, Concord.

Quincy Boys' basketball traveled to Springport to take on the upstart Spartans on Friday night. In a battle that came down to the final seconds, Quincy had the ball with 2.5 seconds left, down 3. The Orioles executed a sideline out of bounds play well, setting up a long 3-ball by Corey Turner that looked good, but glanced off of the rim. Springport ended up winning, 49-46.

Quincy took on Union City on a frigid Tuesday evening. The Chargers took the win, 42-30. The score was knotted, 8-8 after one quarter of action. Union City took a slip 18-15 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Chargers outscored the Orioles 24-15 in the second half to take the victory.

The Quincy varsity boys' basketball team made the trek to Maple Valley on Thursday night in a Big Eight contest. The Orioles were victorious, 45-34, in a physical game. Quincy found themselves down 8-5 after one, then up 23-14 at halftime. The Orioles extended the lead to 12 after three, up 31-19. The Lions clipped the Orioles 15-14 in the final period, resulting in the 45-34 final score.

Orioles Win: 56 - 46
Quincy's varsity boys' basketball team battled with Mendon tonight in a non-conference game at home, prevailing 56-46. Mendon took an early lead, 15-13 after the first quarter, with hot shooting from 3-point land to begin the contest. The Hornets hit three triples in the quarter. Quincy regrouped in the second quarter, taking the momentum with a 15-8 surge, taking a 28-23 halftime lead. The third quarter was tight, with the Orioles edging Mendon 11-10, building a six point lead heading into the final stanza. In the final quarter, Mendon got as close as two points, but Quincy put them away behind key baskets from Alex Barry and Ryan Kempter; solid free throw shooting by Grant Carter and Corey Turner iced the game.

The Quincy varsity boys' basketball team went toe-to-to with Bronson Vikings before eventually falling 64-55. Quincy led the entire game, until a fourth quarter comeback by the Vikings. The Orioles led 15-13 after the first quarter, 31-27 at halftime, and 45-43 at the end of the third. Bronson outscored Quincy 21-10 in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Quincy played a strong Ottawa Lake Whiteford squad tough in the championship game of the "Quincy Holiday Hoops Tournament", down only a point at halftime. However, the second half was a different story, as Whiteford dominated, securing the victory 67-48.

Quincy played Vandercook Lake in the first round of the "Quincy Holiday Hoops Tournament," topping the Jayhawks 60-20. The Orioles were defensive-minded throughout the game, holding Vandercook Lake to just 3 points in each of the first 3 quarters. Offensively, the Orioles made some great passes and showed tremendous teamwork.
"I am proud of the way that the guys played today, as we have been battling illness, injury, and other obstacles. The team motto, 'Rise As One' was critical today, and the players stepped up and played for each other," commented Coach Rodesiler.
The team is back in action tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. in the Quincy Gymnasium, also known as "The Cathedral". The Orioles will play for the championship against 6-2 Ottawa Lake Whiteford. Come out and enjoy some basketball!

The Quincy Orioles varsity basketball team hit the road to play old, long-time Big Eight Conference member, Athens, in a Friday night contest. Quincy started out a little slowly, taking a slim 10-5 lead after the first quarter, sparked by Jimmy Maynard's four points. Quincy ratcheted up the defensive pressure in the second quarter, outscoring Athens 25-5, taking a commanding 35-10 lead into halftime. Ryan Kempter paced the Orioles with six points in the quarter. The Orioles and Indians played a pretty even third quarter, with Quincy having a slim 13-10 advantage, with Brandon Miner leading the charge with six points. Quincy outscored Athens 12-2 in the fourth quarter to finish out the game.

Orioles Win: 70 - 62
Quincy played non-conference foe, Colon, coming away with an exciting 70-62 overtime win. The Orioles controlled the action in the first quarter, jumping out to a 22-12 lead. The Magi answered back in a big way, taking the lead into the locker room 30-26 after outscoring Quincy 18-4 in the second quarter. Quincy stormed back after halftime adjustments, outplaying Colon to the tune of 23-10 in the 3rd quarter, making the score 49-40 heading into the 4th quarter. The Orioles seemed to once again be in control of the game, but the Magi had other plans, tying the game 58-58 with about 19 seconds to go. Quincy took the last shot, but the 15-footer hit back iron and the game went to overtime. Grant Carter started the extra period by splashing a 3-pointer. The Orioles hit another 2-point basket, making it 63-58. Colon scored a basket on a drive, making the score 63-60 in favor of the Orioles. The Magi received a technical foul after a player fouled out, allowing Quincy to hit both free throws and get the ball back. Quincy was 11-14 on free throws in the 4th quarter and overtime to seal the game.

The Quincy varsity boys' basketball team made the short trip to Big Eight rival, Reading. Quincy used a 21-14 second half scoring advantage to pull away with the victory, after being knotted up at 22-22 at halftime. The Orioles played strong team defense throughout the game to keep the Rangers in check. Quincy forced Reading into numerous turnovers, limiting the number of shots that they took in the contest. Quincy had a balanced scoring attack to put up enough points to earn the win. Quincy used a 13-1 advantage on made free throws to help secure the win. Orioles Lose: 35 - 61
The Quincy varsity boys’ basketball team ran into a buzz-saw, falling 61-35 to a strong Concord team. The Yellow Jackets stung the Orioles early and often, to the tune of a 28-6 halftime lead. Quincy showed some grit and determination in the second half, but it was not enough. Quincy was led by Brandon Miner’s 10 points and 3 rebounds; Jimmy Maynard added 10 points; Ryan Kempter chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds.Quincy has just two days to regroup, as they travel to Reading on Thursday for a Big Eight battle.

Orioles Win: 55 - 7
The Quincy boys' varsity basketball team played their home opener tonight, hosting Camden-Frontier. Quincy jumped out quickly, using pressure defense to create offense for themselves. Quincy won 55-7 in an all-around strong performance from the team. "This was a nice team win, with contributions from everyone on the roster. We played strong defense tonight, shared the ball well, and limited turnovers tonight, " remarked Coach Rodesiler. The team would like to thank the band for playing at tonight's game! What a great atmosphere in the "Coolest Gym in Michigan" on a Tuesday night!! Orioles Lose: 36 - 42
The Quincy Boys' basketball team opened the 2023-2024 season by traveling to Grass Lake, falling 42-36. The first quarter was tight, with the Warriors leading by the slim margin of 9-8, indicating that the game would be a defensive battle. The offense picked up a little bit in the second quarter, with Grass Lake prevailing, 15-12, to take a 24-20 lead into the locker room. The two teams were locked in defensively, with the third quarter ending up tied 3-3, allowing the Warriors to take a 27-23 lead into the final quarter. Grass Lake went up by eight points, but Grant Carter and Ryan Kempter hit back to back 3-pointers to pull the Orioles within two points. Quincy had their chances, but turnovers, a poor shooting performance, and poor free throw shooting led to the loss.
Brandon Miner led the Orioles with 12 points and 9 rebounds ; Ryan Kempter added 9 points and 3 rebounds; Grant Carter chipped in with 7 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals; Jimmy Maynard contributed 6 points and 2 rebounds, while freshman Alex Dunn had 2 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots in his varsity debut.
