Boys/Girls Middle School Track vs. Multiple Opponents

Quincy MS track team took a quick jaunt down US12 to Jonesville for a tri-meet match-up against the Yellow Jackets and the Comets. The meet results are as follows:

Students battled through some sore legs after having a meet the night before, but still showed up to compete.
The girls logged 14 PRs for the night. Accolades to:
Cali Richards, 70m 200m; McKya Connin, 70m, shot put; Marissa Lincon, 70m, 100m; Julia Travelbee, 100m; Olivia Wages, 100m; Addison Hasten, 100m; Clare Robertson, 400m; Delayni Hollenbaugh, 800m; Mackenzi Maynard, 55 hurdles; Natalee Weaver, 55 hurdles; and Kora Timmons, high jump.
Not to be outdone, the boys recorded 15 new PRs for the night from:

Orioles Lose: -
The MS Orioles hosted its first and only dual of the season against the Reading Rangers on May 15. The warm temps and positive vibes took both the girls’ and boys’ teams to victories for the night. With Reading making an early departure before the beginning of the 3200m run, the Orioles celebrated their win with the Cupid Shuffle on center field.
Great things were accomplished for the night.

And, we have a new school record in the long jump! Alex Dunn jumped 18’1” in the meet beating the old middle school record of 17’10.75”.

Tuesday, May 9, the MS Quincy Track Team hosted the Quincy Invite, with all Big 8 teams in attendance. The Orioles came out strong and both the boys’ and the girls’ teams took third place for the night. Athletes picked up medals for winning first through third place in their events. The following competitors medaled:
Individual events
Alex Dunn - 3rd in the 70m; 1st in high jump
Elizabeth Longardner - 3rd in 55 hurdles; 1st in the 200 hurdles; 1st in the 400m
Kendyl Musielewicz - 2nd in the 800m; 2nd in the 400m
Austin Preston - 3rd in pole vault
Addison Hasten - 1st in shot put
Noah Rufenacht - 3rd in the 400m
Relays
Girls 4x100 - 3rd place
Kali Kugler, Isabelle Marske, Mackenzie Maynard, and Ashlyn Fickle
Boys 4x200 - 3rd place
Micha Paul, Austin Preston, Kaden Cutler, and Noah Kelley

It was finally a sunny day for a track meet in Springport! And, the good weather put the Orioles in the mood to compete. The MS track team battled through the MIlliken Co-ed Relays coming home with second place out of the seven teams in attendance! Medals were given for the first three places in each relay, which put Quincy coming home with two first place medals, five second place medals, and three third place medals.
The perseverance to keep going and learn new things is incredible with this team. Come watch these kids soar at home on Tuesday, May 9 for the Quincy Invite. Watch out, the nest is coming for ya!

Fifteen schools headed to the home of the Chargers on April 27 for the Union City Invite. The beautiful weather and exhilaration of the meet made for an exciting night. Our middle school girls team took 4th place for the night, and the boys came back with 8th. Medals were given to the top five competitors in each event. Our medal winners for the night were:

For our last clash of the season on May 22, the nest flew north to land of the Spartans to face-off in a double-dual against Springport and Union City. Our MS tracksters were ready to go! The boys’ team came out first overall in the double-dual and our girls took first against Springport but fell just ten points short of beating the Chargers. The final scores are as follows:

The Orioles took flight to Hillsdale Friday night to participate in the Davis Relays. After having a tri-meet the night before, we had some sore legs but pushed through to get the job done. Out of eight teams, the boys placed fourth and the girls came home with fifth. Medals or ribbons were awarded for the first five places in each relay of the night. Overall, we had seven relay teams place in the top five
We also had four athletes get PRs in their field events; Isaiah Staggs in the shot put, Julia Travelbee in the pole vault, Clare Robertson in long jump, and Kendallyn Skiles in the long jump.

For the first home meet of the season, the Quincy MS Track team hosted a tri-meet with Homer and Bronson. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams came out victorious!

On April 13, the Quincy Middle School track team kicked off the first meet of the season with the Comstock Invitational. Twelve schools were in attendance and the Orioles had a fantastic night! Medals were given for the top four finishers in each event. The boys’ team placed 4th overall and the girls took home 6th. Some of the night highlights include:
Noah Kelley - 1st in the 70m
Kendyl Musielewicz - 3rd in the 800m
Elizabeth Longardner - 1st in the 200 hurdles
Rylan Dickey - 2nd in shot put
Addison Hasten - 3rd in shot put

Austin Preston - 2nd in pole vault
