Orioles Lose: -
Regionals were held @ The Medalist, which proved to be a tough test for the Oriole Golf Team, The O’s were up to the task and placed 4th overall, just missing out on qualifying for the State Match by just 8 strokes behind Hillsdale HS. Sam Sawyer led the team with an 84. This score was the top individual qualifying score, which makes Sam an Individual State Qualifier for the second straight season. Dave Milliman next scored a 90 which was good for a tie for 15th place in the region. Chase Walters carded a 97 which was good for 30th. Gavin Hagerman finished his senior season with a 101 and a tie for 41st. Finally Braylon Estlow shot 105 which put him in a tie for 51st. An overall good showing against 200 other golfers. The team score of 372 was 13 strokes better than Jonseville as well.

The entire golf team played in the final team event of the season by playing in the Quincy v. Coldwater golf challenge @ CGC. The O’s bested the Cards by a total team score of 508-540. Sam Sawyer and Dave Milliman tied for 2nd with a 41, followed by Caleb Bostic and Grant Carter with 48’s and Chase Walters and Braylon Estlow shot 49’s and Gavin Hagerman 52. Hunter Schiedler and Belle went for 55’s and Keegan Neely’s 61 and Ella Wordens 64 to all contribute to the team win.

The Big 8 played their season ending match that determined the championship @ Wiffletree GC The title was claimed by Jonesville by 8 strokes over Runner- up Quincy. Quincy’s Sam Sawyer was the medalist with a 78 and Dave Milliman was 2nd with an 80. Sawyer wins his third straight Big 8 MVP and All-conference with the best average score. Milliman won his second all conference award and freshman Braylon Estlow (101) joined the all conference team for the season as well. Chase Walters shot 100, Gavin Hagerman 106 and Keegan Neely posted 112.

The Varsity O’s golf team traveled to Clinton to play in the Clinton Redwolves Invite. The O’s ended up tied for 9th place but were the second best Divison 3 team in a deep field. Dave Milliman and Sam Sawyer both shot 87 which tied them for 18th, Chase Walters posted a 94 - T40th, Braylon Estlow went 102 and Keegan Neely carded 106 in the preregional tune-up.

The Quincy Golf team traveled to Burr Oak GC to play in the Springport Golf Scramble. Pairs of O’s competed in the match. Sam Sawyer/Chase Walters placed second in the match with -3-69, they were followed by the team of Ella Worden/Hunter Schiedler/Belle Neely’s 75, good for 5th place, Braylon Estlow and Dave Milliman carded a 76 - T6th, Gavin Hagerman/Grant Carter posted an 81 - 10th, Caleb Bostic/Keegan Neely went 84 - 11th. “The Beefsteak Open” was a good time, playing some good golf.

The Oriole Golf team played in the last Big 8 Jamboree @ Turtle Creek. The O's placed 2nd, 2 strokes behind the host Chargers. Sam Sawyer and Braylon Estlow tied for 2nd with 41’s, Dave Milliman was 8th with a 44, Chase Walters shot 47 and Gavin Hagerman and Keegan Neely both shot 49’s. All members broke 50 and shot a 173 for the contest.

The Oriole Golf Team competed in the 1st Annual Quincy Oriole Invitational. The squad was spilt into 2 teams, Orange and Black. The Orange team won the Invite by 4 strokes to claim the title. Sam Sawyer was medalist, as well as he shot a 86, Dave Milliman was third overall with an 88, while Braylon Estlow(T10) added 98 and Gavin Hagerman and Chase Walters shot 101 each. Tthe Black Team finished 4th in the tourney, led by Grant Carters 6th place finish with a 93, Caleb Bostic shot 99(12th), Keegan Neely 104, Ella Worden carded a 116, Belle Neely shot 128 and Hunter Scheidloer shot 129 to round out scoring.

The Orioles storm back to win the Homer Big 8 Jamboree @ Marshall CC. Quincy placed in 3 of the the top 4 places. Freshman Braylon Estlow put it all together to card a 42 which earned him co-Medalist. Sam Sawyer and Dave Milliman posted 43 each and Chase Walters placed 8th with a 46. Caleb Bostic scored 55 (20th) and Hunter Schiedler shot 67 (27th) in Varsity action. The O’s are 3-1 in Conference play.

The Orioles played in the Jonesville Jamboree @ White Oaks GC. They placed second in the Jamboree. Top scorers for the O’s were Dave Milliman and Sam Sawyer with 43 each. Gavin Hagerman posted his first varsity score with a 51 and Chase Walters shot 52. Braylon Estlow shot 53 and Ella Worden posted a 61

The O’s were finally back in action in the better weather for the Bronson Big 8 Jamboree @ Bella Vista GC. The team shot a 183 score and won the Jamboree by 5 strokes. All four scorers were in the Top 10 of the Jamboree. Sam Sawyer was Co-Medalist with a score of 41, Dave Miiliman, 44(T3), Chase Walters and Braylon Estlow shot a pair of 49’s(T6). Keegan Neely (57) and Caleb Bostic (60) got Varsity experience for the Orioles (2-0).

The Oriole Golf team traveled to Concord Hills GC for the Big 8 Jamboree. The O’s placed 2nd on the day. Sam Sawyer placed 2nd with a 42, followed by Dave Milliman’s 3rd place finish with a 44. Braylon Estlow scored a 50 and Chase Walters shot 52 for a team score of 188. Keegan Neely (59) and Crant Carter(72) also played for the Orioles tonight.

The Orioles played in the St. Phil Tiger Invitational @ Binder Park. Posting mostly season-best scores, the O’s Placed 6th. Sam Sawyer led the way with an 81 and Dave Milliman carded an 86. Sam and Dave finished in the Top 10 of the Tournament. Chase Walters followed with 98 and Braylon Estlow chipped in a 99. Keegan Neely posted a 103, to improve the team score from last week.

The Oriole JV golf team traveled to Binder Park GC to play in the Harper Creek JV Invite. Battling cold and a few snow squalls the team placed 7th and were the highest placing Division 3 team there. Gavin Hagerman led the O’s with 100 - T31st, followed by Ella Worden who shot 106-T37. Grant Carter carded a 110 - 46th, Belle Neely posted 115 - T50th and Hunter Scheidler rounded out the scoring with a 118 - 53rd. The team competed well through some tough conditions and shot some good scores

The Orioles traveled to Bedford Valley Golf Course to compete against 16 other teams in the Hillsdale Academy Invitational. Dave Milliman was low scorer for the O’s today shooting an 84, good for 20th place in the tournament. Sam Sawyer was 2 strokes behind with an 86-T23rd. Chase Walters posted his best score of the season with a 96-T46th. Grant Carter shot a PB 101-T57 and Gavin Hagerman posted his first Varsity score of a 111-T67. A good showing on a great course by the Orioles.

The Orioles kicked off their Big 8 Conference Golf Season with a 2 stroke Victory over Jonesville and the rest of the Big 8. Sam Sawyer was medalist for the match by carding a 43. Dave Milliman and Braylon Estlow also had top 10 finishes by both shooting 50 and tying for 4th place. Keegan Neely rounded out the scoring for the O’s with a 55 which was good for an 11th place finish and gave Quincy a team score of 198. Chase Walters and Grant Carter also saw Varsity action in the Jamboree

The 2023 QHS Varsity golf team kicked their season off at the Coldwater Invitational on a beautiful day for golf. The Team placed 21st in a tournament that had many quality teams present. Sam Sawyer led the way for the Orioles by posting a 78 (+6) that was good for a T14th place against a really strong field. Freshman Braylon Estlow carded a 95 in his Varsity debut. The team all shot good opening round scores, Chase Walters (102), Keegan Neely (107) and Caleb Bostic (111). The O’s are back at it at the Hillsdale Academy Invite next.
