Quincy Hosts Tri-School Track Meet; Girls Dominate, Boys Edge Out Reading

The Quincy Middle School track team hosted their first home meet of the season on Tuesday, April 29. The meet was a tri against Reading and Union City. Our athletes appreciated the support from fans and proud parents as they gave it their all on the track and in the field.
The Quincy girls’ team put on an impressive performance, taking first place overall in the meet. Some of our top performers of the night were: Riley Myers second in the 70m and first in long jump; Gracin Hemker third in the 70m, third in the 200m; Bailey Porter third in the 100m, first in the 400m; Mackenzie Sattison second in the 400m, first in pole vault; Alexis Reif first in the mile, first in the 800m, and first in the two mile; Annabel Hemker second in 200H. The girls 4x400 with a team of Bailey Porter, Lauren Tappenden, Gracin Hemker, and Mackenzie Sattison also took first with a new PR, as well. There were a total of 19 PRs for the night!
On the boys' side, the team faced close competition against Union City, losing by 5 points - final score 63-68. They did take the win over Reading, with a final score of 91-35. Some of our top finishers for the night were: DJ Poore first in the 70m; Gibson James third in the 70m, third in shot put; Corbin Brewer second in the 100m, first in high jump; Reid House third in 200m; Eli Morris second in the 800m; Nathan Dunn first in the mile, first in the two mile; Dylan Musser first in 55H, second in 200H, first in long jump; Anderson Suever second in pole vault, Kolton Marquart second in long jump. The 4x200 team of DJ Poore, Corbin Brewer, Reid House, and Kolton Marquart took first and took almost 10 seconds off their start-of-the-year time. The 4x800 team of Eli Morris, Kandon Thompson, Joe Brown, and Nathan Dunn took first, and took almost 16 seconds off their start-of-the-year time. There were a total of 29 PRs for the night!!
With strong individual and team performances across the board, Quincy Middle School looks forward to continuing their success at upcoming meets. We head to Springport for the Milliken Co-ed Relays on Thursday, May 1. Field events start at 3:30. Come support the young Orioles!
