JACKSON, MI. – The Quincy Oriole varsity baseball team dropped their final doubleheader of the season on Saturday, falling in a sweep to state ranked Jackson Lumen Christi by scores of 3-2 and 9-1.

Game one of the day saw Lumen Christi take the exciting 3-2 walk-off victory.

Lumen Christi led early with a run in the first inning and a run in the second, building the early 2-0 lead. Quincy came back with a run in the third inning on a Ryan Kempter bunt, allowing Dreyden Feltner to score, followed by a run in the sixth inning as Mickey Connin smacked a double to left field, allowing Grant Holroyd to score, tying the game up at 2-2.

Quincy looked to possibly work their way into the lead in the top of the seventh, loading the bases with two outs after two singles and a walk. Connin, who delivered the walk-off win versus Barry County Christian earlier in the week, battled the Lumen Christi pitcher through a tough at-bat, however Connin could not catch up to a two strike pitch, striking out with the bases loaded. The Titans took advantage in the bottom of the seventh, quickly putting a runner on due to a walk. That runner moved to second on an error and was then promptly sacrificed to third. The next batter, hit a hard ground ball allowing the run to score on an error, giving Lumen Christi the 3-2 walk off win.

Brady Mescher took the tough loss on the mound after pitching great to an exceptionally good team, throwing six innings and a third, allowing three hits and three runs, none of which were earned. Mescher walked one and struck out six in the tough loss.

Leading the offense was Mickey Connin with a single and a double with an RBI; Dreyden Feltner with two singles and a run scored; and Ryan Kempter with two singles and an RBI.

Also adding to the Oriole effort was Riley Miner with a single; Brady Mescher with a single; Hunter Tinervia with a single; Grant Holroyd with a double, two walks and a run scored; Ethan Copas with a single; and Brennen Allman with a single.

Game two of the twin bill saw Lumen Christi race out to an early lead they would never look back from, going on to defeat Quincy 9-1. Lumen Christi scored a run in the first inning, four in the second, two in the third and two in the sixth while Quincy added their lone run in the top of the sixth inning as the Titans out hit the Orioles 11-3.

Dreyden Feltner took the loss on the mound for Quincy after throwing two innings and a third in the start, allowing seven hits and seven runs, four earned, with two walks.
