Orioles drop DH vs Homer

The Orioles bats were silenced by Homer’s pitching staff which resulted in  a 2-0 and 6-0 defeats on Wednesday at Quincy.  

Sr. Brady Mescher pitched 5 strong innings for the Orioles allowing just 4 hits.  The Trojans scored 2 unearned in the 2nd inning after two outs which proved to be the difference.  So. Brennan Allman finished the game on the mound throwing 2 shut out innings. 

The Orioles managed just 4 hits. 2 by Mescher and singles by Allman and Hunter Tinervia. Alex Barry added a stolen base. 

Sr. standout and lead off hitter Riley Miner left the game with a leg injury during his 1st at bat.  The Orioles missed his at bats and are hopeful the injury does not sideline him too long. 

In game 2 Dreden Feltner had a solid outing into the 5th inning where the Orioles made 4 uncharacteristic fielding errors to open the door for Homer to score 3 runs and open a 4-0 lead.  Sr. Ryder Schmactenberger and Tinervia pitched in relief with Tinervia recording 2 strikeouts. 

The Orioles had just two hits and were quiet on the base paths. Jr Draven Baker recorded his 1st varsity hit and Jr. Mickey Connin added a single. 

With the losses the Orioles fall to 6-3 on the season and 2-2 in Big 8 Conference play. They return to action next Tuesday with a double header at Concord.
