Quincy Baseball opens 2023 season with a quality  win on the road at Hanover Horton

The day began with the Orioles slated to play a DH at Quincy vs Hanover Horton.  Field conditions made it not possible to play in Quincy so the game was switched at the last minute to Hanover Horton. There were many to Thank for making this happen. 

On the field the Orioles took advantage of a few offensive opportunities, played solid defense and rode the arm of Senior Brady Mescher for a 4-1 against the state ranked Comets. Mescher dueled with a legit lefty for the Comets  He took a shut out into the 6th inning and finished with 5 strikeouts scattering just 4 hits. 

At the plate, the Orioles managed just 4 hits none bigger than Junior Grant Holroyd 2 run double in the 5th  inning.  Sophomore Ryan Kempter  had 2 hits and a stolen base while Senior Riley Miner added a hit and 2 stolen bases. Sophomore Brennen Allman also swiped 2 bases. While Senior Hunter Tinervia, the Orioles clean up hitter had 3 QABs( walks) against a good Comet pitching staff. 

The Orioles will get back to work and get ready for Grass Lk on Thursday hopefully at home. Game time 3:45.
