Quincy holds off Concord 5-4 in Game 1 of Big 8 Double Header. 

The Orioles jumped out to 3-0 lead after 1 inning and held on as Concord tied the score at 3 in the 5th. That’s when the Orioles responded with a 2 run inning themselves to take a 5-3 lead. The YellowJackets added a run in the 7th and had the go ahead run on base before Sr. Karsen MAurer induced a ground ball out to end the Concord threat. 

Maurer threw the final 2 innings in relief of Brady Mescher to earn the save.  Mescher started for the Orioles on the mound. He gave up just 4 hits and fanned 6 before turning the ball over to Maurer. 

Mescher and Maurer led the Orioles also at the plate as Mescher slugged 3 2b hits and 3 Rbi. Maurer also had a run scoring 2 base hit. Grant Holroyd and Davin George added singles while Ethan Copas swiped 2 bases in the Oriole win 

Game 2 of the DH was suspended after 3 innings and the Yellow Jackets leading 7-0 as they raced out to a 5-0 lead after one inning. The game will be resumed in the 4th inning at a later date.   

The Orioles move to 7-6 on the season and will host Stockbridge, Adrian Madison and Kalamazoo Cougars in the Quincy All Sports Invite on this coming Saturday.
