Orioles’ Baseball earn split with Concord 

Quincy trailed the Yellowjackets until Karsen Maurer’s RBI double tied the score at 1-1 in the 6th inning.  The Orioles used 3 bunt hits, by Bradley Harper, Blake Burkhart, and Corbin Bethel and an RBi single by Kyle Rodesiler in their half of the 7th inning to  move ahead 4-1 and off the home team for a 4-2 win 

Harper picked up the win throwing a nifty 3 hitter. The Senior righty  had 6 strike outs and yielded just two walks.  Brady Mescher relieved Harper with 2 outs in the 7th inning to record a save. 

The Orioles had 9 hits including 2 each from Bethel and Kyler Maurer.  

Game 2  of the DH saw another pitcher’s duel as the Orioles’ Blake Burkhart held Concord scoreless into the 5 inning.  Concord opened the scoring with two hits and an Oriole throwing error to move ahead 2-0. They added three runs in the 6 inning after 2 outs and went on to 5 -0 win.  Lane Pearson threw a scoreless 7 inning with 2 strikeouts.  The Orioles bats were silent in game 2 as they had only 3 hits all singles by Cody Nuesbaum, Mescher, and Rodesiler. 

With the split the Orioles move to 3-5 in Big8 play and 4-7 overall and they look forward to hosting a  Quincy All Sports Day Double Header this coming Saturday. The Orioles square off with Stockbridge in game 1 at 9:00 am
