The Quincy Boys 8th grade Basketball team split its roster into two teams and welcomed Union City to Q town on Wednesday night.  In the 1st game Quincy’s “Black Attack” won a thrilling 29-25 victory over the Chargers. The back forth game went right down to the last possession as the Orioles closed out the win. The Orioles  committed to playing good hard nosed 1/2 court defense and held the Chargers under 30 points which is a Quincy Team goal. With the stout defense and just enough offense including its best night from the free throw line the Orioles came away with the win.  Noah Kelley was double and tripled teamed most of the game. but played well on both ends of the floor while challenging his team mates to play defense. His on floor leadership was as important as his 11 points and 8 rebounds. Bryson Estlow who is still overcoming illness scored 6 points including a 3 pointer on an out of bounds play in the 4 th quarter.  He also drew the assignment of guarding UC top scoring threat. Caden Norris added 4 points and good minutes off the bench as he replaced an injured Oriole player. Tristian Brewer had a huge game on the boards with 7 rebounds and 2 free throws, while Joe Gray and Grant Longardner added baskets.  The win avenges  a couple of losses to UC from last year as the Orioles advance to 4-1 on the season. 

In the nightcap Union City took advantage of several Oriole miscues and recorded a 30-14 win.  Jaylen Jones and Tayte Waddell scored 5 points each to pace the Orioles and Daniel Burritt and Tristian Jennings scored baskets.
