The Quincy Orioles 8th grade boys basketball team opened its 2023 season with a business like 50-16 win on the road at rival Reading.
The Orioles jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back as they played “Team” basketball on both ends of the floor.
Noah Kelley poured in a game high 20 points to lead the Orioles as they had contributions from all 15 players. Kelley scored in every quarter and was 2 for 2 from the free line line
Playmakers Joe Gray and Bryson Estlow played solid games on both ends of the floor. Estlow had 8 points, hauled down 5 rebounds and dished out 3 assists as he played all positions on the floor. Gray the point guard was responsible for the fast start scored 7 points including 3 free throws. He added 2 assists and 3 steals in an all round heady performance
Grant Longardner overcame some early foul trouble and added 6 points and 5 rebounds. Caden Norris played well as the 6th man and had 4 points. Tristin Brewer added 2 points and Zander Wood made a long distance 3 pointer at the buzzer to end the 3rd quarter.
The Orioles return to the court on Friday hosting the Concord YellowJackets.
