Jonesville converted a steal and a lay up with 18 seconds to go in the 4th quarter and held off a 3 point attempt by the Orioles to capture a hard fought 26-24 win over the Orioles in the opening round of the Big 8 Conference tournament.
The Orioles held the lead after each quarter 2-1, 12-7, and 17-13 setting up a wild finish where Jonesville made a couple more plays than the Orioles. Jonesville employed a combination of man to man and zone defense aimed to stop the Oriole offense and keep the game low scoring which worked to their advantage.
Braylon Estlow led the Orioles with 10 points including a 3 point basket and 5 of 6 from the foul line. Zeb Olson added 6 points-two baskets late in the 4th quarter as the lead went back and forth. Clayton Benson, 4 points, Wesley Wasikowski, and Conner Guthrie also scored for the Orioles.
