Boys Middle School Football vs. Springport HS School

Game Date
Oct 10, 2023
Score
ORIOLES: 56
SPRINGPORT HIGH SCHOOL: 24

The Orioles hosted the Springport Spartans in a rare Tuesday night on the gridiron in a "78ers" battle, winning 56-24. Quincy wasted little time, electing to take the ball during the coin flip, then Noah Kelley promptly ran the kickoff back for a touchdown.

The Quincy offense was clicking all night and led 30-6 at halftime, including a nifty reverse by Grant Longardner, with great blocking by the team on this particular play. The Orioles blocked well all night, opening big holes for the running backs.

Springport battled in the second half, but had no answer for the high flying Oriole offense. Quincy was led by Noah Kelley's five touchdowns and a 2-point conversion, Grant Longardner's two touchdowns and a 2-point conversion, Byson Estlow's touchdown and 2-point conversion, and Joe Gray's 2-point conversion pass and run. Kale Dirschell, Bryson Estlow, and Noah Kelley had receptions from Joe Gray, including Estlow's touchdown grab.

The defense was spearheaded by Noah Kelley, Avery Crandall, Tristin Brewer, Ben Romine, and Grant Longardner. Kale Dirschell had a sweet interception that he caught off of a Brewer tipped pass, snagging the ball just before it hit the ground.

Quincy Middle School football will play at Centreville tomorrow. The Orioles are back in action at home next Wednesday. Eighth grade will play at 5:00 p.m. against Reading, then the seventh grade will play Bronson in the next game.
