7th Grade Boys Middle School Football vs. Homer

The 7th grade Orioles raced out to a 30-0 1st half lead and added 2 2 half scores to soundly defeat Homer at Homer 46-0 on Wednesday. Noah Kelley had another huge day on both sides of the ball scoring 4 offensive TD's on several long runs including a 90 yard score after the Orioles turned back Homer on their 5 yard line when Joe Gray recovered a fumble. Kelley also scored a defensive touchdown returning a fumble 55 yards for a score. Gray was again steady at QB spreading the ball around both on the ground and through tha air. Grant Longardner scampered 45 yards for a score and he converted a PAT as did Bryson Estlow. Avery Crandalll had a monster game on both the offensive and defensive line of scrimmaged. He recorded 8 tackles 4 for losses. With the he win the Orioles are 2-0 on the season.
The 8th grade Quincy football team lost to Homer 20-6. Quincy was plagued by turnovers and penalties throughout the game. Homer was a solid opponent, giving the Orioles problems all night with their size and aggressiveness. Homer went to the air to get on the scoreboard first and converted the 2-point conversion to go up 8-0. On Quincy's next possession, a pass was tipped by a defensive lineman, hit another player's helmet, then intercepted and returned for a Homer touchdown. A failed 2-point conversion made the score 14-0 Homer. Quincy got on the scoreboard on a nifty run by Noah Rufenacht for a touchdown. A failed 2-point conversion left the score at 14-6, Homer. Homer tacked on one more touchdown, making the final score 20-6, Homer.
The Orioles are now 1-1 on the season. The team travels to Fremont, IN next Tuesday for a non-conference matchup at 5:30, in a combined 7th/8th grade game.
