Quincy Cross Country competed at the Sturgis Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 17, facing some of the coldest conditions of the season. Temperatures were 33 degrees Fahrenheit when the team boarded the bus Saturday morning, and runners navigated a cold, muddy course throughout the meet. The boys finished ninth overall among Division 1 through Division 4 schools. When scored against Division 3 and Division 4 teams, Quincy placed second, as announced during the awards ceremony. Hunter Walker once again broke into the 16-minute range, marking the second time this season he has accomplished the feat. Carter Feltner also recorded a personal record, continuing his progress toward reaching the 16-minute range. The girls finished 12th overall among all divisions. In the Division 3 and Division 4 scoring, Quincy was estimated to have finished fourth based on the available results. Kendyl Musielewicz turned in her second-fastest time of the season despite the challenging course conditions. Bailey Porter continued her return following an illness, finishing in the 22-minute range, while Amberlyn Small recorded a new personal record. With cold temperatures and muddy footing presenting an added challenge, the Orioles continued to build toward the postseason through another opportunity to compete and improve.
