The Quincy Orioles MS Football team moved its record to 5-0 and finished the season unbeaten on its home turf with a big 29-8 win over visiting Springport. Talon Thomas took the opening kick off 65 yards for a special teams touchdown and the Orioles were on the scoreboard early. After a defensive stop, Thomas took a Spartan punt 60 yards for another score and the Orioles led 14-0 without having run an offensive play. Once the offense got going, Thomas passed 42 yards to Kye Dirschell for another score and a 22-0 1st half lead. Brendan Preston scored a 2nd half touchdown and Thomas kicked the extra point and the O’s lead 29-0. The Spartans scored a late TD and the Orioles were able to run the clock out for the win. The Orioles had several “ big plays” to stop the Spartans. Jefferson Wright had an interception. Lane Wood played his usual tough defense and rattled a few cages while recovering a fumble. He also scored a 2 point conversation on offense. Ryder Laney led the inspired “Kenny Cox” kick off team which created good field position for the Orioles. Logan George, Austin Carlisle, and Brody Murphy led both the offensive and defensive lines which continue to improve each week. Dirschell had a huge blocking night creating lots of space for the Oriole running game and Cooper Adams hauled in a pass and made a nice run after the catch. The Orioles close out their 2026 season win with a road trip to Reading next Thursday.
