Quincy Boys Win Big 8 Jamboree; Girls Finish Third

Quincy Cross Country competed in the third of four Big 8 Conference jamborees Tuesday at Bronson, with the Orioles continuing to hold strong positions in the conference standings. The Quincy boys captured first place in the team competition with 54 points, finishing ahead of Concord (88) and Bronson (89). The victory keeps the Orioles in first place overall in the Big 8 standings after three jamborees with 183 points. Hunter Walker led Quincy with a second-place finish in 17:36.7, followed by Carter Feltner in third at 17:40.1. Nathan Dunn added a ninth-place finish in 18:46.3 to give the Orioles three runners in the top 10. Coy Wood finished 18th in 19:57.9, while Nolan King was 22nd in 20:27.4 to round out Quincy's team scoring. Isaac Lee finished 26th in 20:46.6, Eli Morris was 28th in 20:56.6, Eddie Miller placed 31st in 21:17.5, and Michael Payne finished 41st in 22:23.7. On the girls' side, Quincy finished third with 88 points, behind Bronson (60) and Concord (64). The result leaves the Orioles in third place overall in the Big 8 standings with 252 points, trailing Concord (147) and Bronson (234) after three jamborees. Lauren Tappenden paced Quincy with a sixth-place finish in 22:06.7, while Kendyl Musielewicz followed in eighth at 22:20.0, giving the Orioles two runners in the top 10. Clare Robertson finished 20th in 25:04.8, Peyton Proctor was 24th in 26:03.1, and Victoria Francis placed 30th in 27:10.0. With three of four Big 8 jamborees complete, the Quincy boys remain atop the conference standings, while the girls enter the final jamboree ranked third overall. They will head to Hudson on Saturday for the Hudson invite.
