The Quincy volleyball team hosted East Jackson Tuesday night for the Orioles’ annual Cancer Night, bringing the Quincy community together for an evening of support, remembrance and volleyball. This year’s event honored Bill Heffner and Mary Burritt and their families, while also remembering Amy Paradine. The evening provided an opportunity for players, families and community members to come together in support of those who have been affected by cancer and to remember members of the Quincy community who have made a lasting impact. On the court, the Orioles earned a 3-0 victory over East Jackson, winning 25-18, 25-10 and 25-16. Quincy took control throughout the match, building on its lead after the opening set and closing out the sweep in three sets. Kora Timmons led the Orioles with 10 kills, while Laura Bostic and Alexis Reif each added six. Reif also recorded a team-high five aces and 23 assists, with Kenzi Maynard adding three aces and Ashlyn Fickle contributing nine assists. Timmons also led the Quincy defense with 10 digs and added two blocks. Bostic finished with seven digs, while JC Quimby recorded five. With the victory, Quincy improves to 5-1 in Big 8 Conference play and 14-5-1 overall. The evening was a meaningful one for the Oriole community, with Cancer Night providing an opportunity to recognize, remember and support those who have touched the Quincy community. They next will head to Reading on the road Thursday for a JV/V Big 8 Doubleheader.
