Orioles Battle Through Four Sets to Earn Conference Victory

The Quincy Orioles battled through a competitive night Thursday, responding after dropping the second set to earn a four-set victory over their opponent, 25-18, 21-25, 25-19, 25-8. Quincy opened the match with a 25-18 victory before the opponent answered in the second set. The Orioles regrouped in the third set, taking a 25-19 win, before closing out the match with a strong fourth-set performance, 25-8. Ashlyn Fickle led the Orioles with 10 kills and 20 assists while also recording 18 digs and six aces. Fickle's 10 kills also came on a special night as she became Quincy's new career kills record holder. Laura Bostic added 10 kills, three aces and Kora Timmons finished with nine kills. Defensively, JC Quimby led Quincy with 19 digs, followed by Fickle with 18 and Kenzi Maynard with 12. Maynard added four aces, while Alexis Reif recorded 13 assists. The Orioles improve to 7-4-1 overall and 2-1 in Big 8 Conference play. They next play Saturday in a tournament at Onsted.
