Orioles Sweep Maple Valley in Three Sets

Quincy put together a well-rounded team effort Tuesday night, sweeping Maple Valley 3-0 in conference play by scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 25-16. The opening set featured a back-and-forth start before the Orioles began to create separation. Quincy built a 17-10 advantage as Maple Valley attempted to close the gap, but the Orioles held on for a 25-17 victory. Maple Valley came out strong in the second set, taking a 15-7 lead. Quincy responded by scoring 13 of the next 14 points to take a 20-16 advantage. The Lions continued to battle, cutting the deficit to 24-22, but the Orioles closed out the set 25-22 to take a 2-0 lead. The third set again started with both teams trading points before Quincy took control. The Orioles finished with a 25-16 win to complete the three-set sweep. Quincy received contributions throughout the lineup, led by eight aces from JC Quimby and seven from Alexis Reif. Reif also recorded a team-high six digs, while Quimby and Ashlyn Fickle each added five. Fickle finished with a team-high nine assists, while Kenzi Maynard, Kora Timmons and Laura Bostic each recorded four kills. With the win, Quincy improves to 6-4-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Orioles will return home Thursday to host Springport in a Big 8 matchup.
