The Quincy cross country teams returned to competition Wednesday, September 2, at the Hillsdale Invitational, with the boys finishing fifth and the girls placing sixth. The meet was delayed until the heat index reached a safe level for competition, making for challenging conditions throughout the races. Hunter Walker led the Quincy boys, finishing eighth overall in 18:20 to earn a medal. Carter Feltner followed in 28th at 20:09, while Nathan Dunn placed 30th in 20:10. Coy Wood finished 40th in 21:24, with Nolan King placing 56th in 22:41 to round out Quincy's top five. Eli Morris finished 64th in 23:44, and Jack Miller placed 80th in 25:50. The Orioles finished fifth in the team standings with 119 points, behind Hanover-Horton, Hillsdale Academy, Coldwater and Leslie. On the girls' side, Kendyl Musielewicz led Quincy with a ninth-place finish in 23:27, earning a medal. Lauren Tappenden also earned a medal, placing 18th in 24:41. Clare Robertson finished 43rd in 30:00, followed by Lily Neubecker in 54th at 32:34. The Quincy girls finished sixth in the team standings with 129 points. With the season still in its early stages, the Orioles will continue building toward the remainder of the schedule. Quincy will travel to Springport next Wednesday, September 9, for the Springport Invitational
