The Quincy boys soccer team battled Bronson through a competitive first half Wednesday night, but the Vikings pulled away in the second half to hand the Orioles a 5-1 loss. Quincy and Bronson entered halftime tied at 1-1 after the Orioles answered an early Bronson goal with one of their own. Senior Carl Dessir found the back of the net for Quincy, with Bentley Swift providing the assist. The Orioles remained within striking distance heading into the second half, but Bronson was able to generate additional scoring opportunities and added four goals after halftime to secure the 5-1 victory. Quincy finished the night with seven shots, including three on goal. Dessir led the Orioles with two shots, while Evan Yeakey, Blaik Pierce, Max Woodward, Luke Kelly and Bentley Swift each recorded a shot. In goal, senior Dane Johnson turned in another busy performance, making eight saves for the Orioles. Despite the final score, Quincy showed its ability to compete with Bronson for a half before the Vikings created separation late. The Orioles will look to bounce back in their next contest in a home Big 8 conference tilt vs. Stockbridge.
