Quincy Cross Country Teams Finish Fourth at Meckley’s Invitational

The Quincy cross country teams competed Thursday at the Meckley’s Invitational, with both the boys and girls teams finishing fourth in the team standings. With only two weeks of practice completed, the meet provided the Orioles with an early opportunity to establish a baseline for the season and see where the teams stand as they continue to build toward the remainder of the schedule. Quincy finished fourth in the boys team standings with 119 points. Junior Hunter Walker led the Orioles, finishing 13th in 17:51.96 to earn a medal. Junior Carter Feltner followed in 28th with a time of 19:53.26, breaking into the 19-minute range in his first race of the season. Senior Coy Wood finished 33rd in 20:31.07, followed by Nathan Dunn in 36th at 21:02.15 and freshman Nolan King in 45th at 21:47.69. Eli Morris finished 54th in 22:49.99, followed by Eddie Miller in 56th at 22:57.31 and freshman Jack Miller in 67th at 25:32.45. The Quincy girls also placed fourth, finishing with 99 points. The Orioles had three medalists, led by senior Kendyl Musielewicz, who finished 10th in 22:43.56. Freshman Bailey Porter placed 15th in 24:12.27, while freshman Lauren Tappenden finished 18th in 24:33.09. Clare Robertson rounded out Quincy's top five in 32nd place with a time of 26:13.80, followed by freshman Lily Neubecker in 44th at 29:09.53. Both Quincy teams finished fourth in a competitive field that included Hanover-Horton, Parma Western, Gibraltar Carlson, Onsted, Homer and Jackson Preparatory. With the first meet of the season complete, the Orioles will continue to build throughout the early portion of the schedule as they head to Hillsdale High School for the Hillsdale Invite on Wednesday September 2nd.
