Quincy Boys Soccer opened its home schedule Wednesday night with an 8-4 victory over visiting Pennfield. The evening began with an hour-long weather delay due to inclement weather, but once play resumed, the Orioles and Panthers provided an entertaining matchup on a beautiful night at Quincy High School. Pennfield opened the scoring six minutes into the match, but Quincy answered four minutes later when senior Blaik Pierce converted a penalty kick after Anderson Suever drew a foul in the box. The Orioles took their first lead when Anderson Suever found the back of the net off an assist from freshman Bentley Swift. Pennfield responded to tie the match, but Suever added another goal four minutes later to put Quincy back in front. The Panthers answered once again in the 33rd minute, and another Pennfield goal just before halftime sent the teams into the break tied at 3-3. Quincy took control in the second half, scoring five goals while limiting Pennfield to one to pull away for the 8-4 victory. Suever led the Orioles with four goals, while Carl Dessir added two goals and an assist. Pierce and freshman Max Woodward each scored once, while Swift recorded an assist. Senior goalkeeper Dane Johnson recorded two saves, while Pierce stepped into goal for the second half and added three saves. The victory gives Quincy a 1-1-2 record on the season. The Orioles will return to action next Wednesday at home against Bronson.
