Quincy Volleyball Splits Tri-Match, Opens Season 1-1

The Quincy volleyball team opened the 2026 season with a split at Wednesday night's tri-match, defeating Onsted in three sets before falling to Hudson in three sets. The Orioles begin the season with a 1-1 record. The Orioles opened the evening with a three-set victory over Onsted, 25-22, 20-25, 25-23. The teams battled throughout the match, both splitting the first two sets. The third set was just as the first with back and forth swings of momentum. In the third set with the score tied at 23-23 Quincy scored the final two points to secure the 25-23 victory. The orioles then took on Hudson who took the opening set 25-21 before the Orioles responded with a 25-17 victory in the second set to even the match. Hudson then claimed the deciding third set, 25-17. Across the two matches, Laura Bostic led Quincy with 23 digs, followed by Kora Timmons with 19 and Alexis Reif with 15. Ashlyn Fickle recorded a team-high 16 kills, while Timmons added 14 and Bostic finished with nine. Fickle led the Orioles with five aces, followed by Kenzie Maynard with four and Timmons with three. Timmons recorded a team-high six blocks, while Bostic added four. Fickle and Maynard each recorded two blocks. Reif finished with a team-high 20 assists, while Fickle added 13 and Maynard recorded five. Quincy will return to action Saturday at Harper Creek High School for the St. Philip Invitational.
