The Quincy Orioles nearly erased a five-run deficit Tuesday night, but Colon held off the late rally and escaped with a 6-4 victory. The Magi struck early with a three-run home run in the first inning and later stretched the lead to 6-1 in the fifth. Quincy responded with a late push, loading the bases with the tying run at second base, but Colon ended the threat with a game-ending 6-4-3 double play. Despite the loss, the Orioles outhit Colon 10-2 on the night. Christian Craven led the offense with three hits, while Kale Dirschell added two hits, including a double. Joe Gray, JJ Wright, Bryson Estlow, Cobee Stevens, and Ethan Drumm each contributed singles. Seth VanStelle drove in two runs with a sacrifice fly and a bases-loaded walk. Quincy battled throughout the game, but five errors proved costly as the Magi’s final three runs were unearned. Orioles pitchers Cobee Stevens, JJ Wright, and Joe Gray combined for eight strikeouts, though Colon also worked eight walks. Quincy’s defense helped keep the game within reach by executing three pickoff plays. With the loss, the Orioles move to 14-12 on the season and now turn their attention to the MHSAA District Tournament, where they will face Jonesville on Saturday
