The Quincy Varsity Orioles put together an impressive all-around performance Tuesday, sweeping Concord in commanding fashion with 9-4 and 22-0 victories at Quincy. In the opener, Quincy used a big third inning to take control and never looked back in the 9-4 win. The Orioles broke through offensively when Seth VanStelle delivered a two-run double, Cobee Stevens followed with an RBI single, and another run scored on a Concord error. JJ Wright earned the win on the mound for Quincy. The left-hander allowed just one run on two hits over four innings while striking out seven. Andrew Dunn added relief work to help secure the victory. Quincy finished with 12 hits in the game. Bryson Estlow powered the middle of the lineup with three RBIs while going 2-for-3 at the plate. Christian Craven, Estlow, Stevens, VanStelle, and Wright each collected two hits. Joe Gray also stole three bases as the Orioles totaled five steals as a team. The Orioles carried that momentum into the second game and exploded offensively in a 22-0 victory. Christian Craven led the charge with five RBIs on two hits, including a three-run single in the third inning and a two-run triple during Quincy’s massive fourth inning. He also drew a bases-loaded walk in the frame. Quincy jumped out early when Estlow doubled home two runs in the first inning. The Orioles added three more runs in the second behind an error and a two-run single from JJ Wright before erupting for five runs in the third. Craven delivered a bases-clearing single in the inning, while VanStelle added a two-run double. The offense saved its biggest inning for the fourth, plating 12 runs to put the game out of reach. Quincy strung together quality at-bats throughout the inning, highlighted by RBI hits from Wright, Estlow, Drew Carlisle, Sana Ullah, Brahn Heminger, Craven, and Matthew Taylor. Cobee Stevens dominated on the mound in the nightcap, tossing four shutout innings while allowing just one hit and striking out four. Quincy totaled 14 hits in the second game, with Craven, Estlow, and Wright each recording two hits. The Orioles also showed patience at the plate, drawing 10 walks in the win. Craven and Joe Gray each reached base twice via walk. With the doubleheader sweep, Quincy continued its strong stretch of play heading into Saturday’s matchup at Lumen Christi Catholic.
