The Quincy Lady Orioles put together an impressive night Tuesday, sweeping Concord in a Big 8 Conference doubleheader by scores of 12-5 and 16-0. In game one, the Orioles used a big third inning to pull away for the 12-5 victory. After Concord scored first in the opening inning, Quincy answered right back when Josi Parker delivered an RBI single to give the Orioles a 2-1 lead. The Orioles broke the game open in the third, scoring six runs. Miley Poindexter singled home a run, Shaylee Cope ripped a two-run double, Taylor Lewis worked a bases-loaded walk, and Quincy capitalized on Concord miscues to extend the lead. Taylor Lewis earned the complete-game win in the circle, allowing five runs, only two earned while striking out six over seven innings. Quincy pounded out 14 hits in the opener. Hannah Brown led the way with four hits from the leadoff spot, while Mackenzie Sattison added three hits. Parker, Gabby Norris, and Poindexter each drove in two runs. Kennedy Leonard also showed patience at the plate, drawing three walks. The Orioles stayed hot in game two, rolling to a 16-0 shutout victory behind another explosive offensive performance. Quincy jumped out early with Miley Poindexter driving in two runs in the first inning. The Orioles added four more runs in the second, highlighted by Josi Parker’s three-run triple. The offense exploded again in the third inning with eight runs on seven hits. Hannah Brown, Parker, Gabby Norris, Taylor Lewis, and Gracin Hemker all delivered RBI hits during the rally. Parker had a big day in the circle and at the plate. The freshman struck out seven and allowed just one hit over three shutout innings while also collecting three hits and four RBIs offensively. Poindexter drove in five runs, while Brown and Lewis each added multiple hits. Norris tripled and Hemker added a double in the victory. The Lady Orioles finished the night with 26 hits across the two games and improved their strong late-season momentum heading into Friday’s matchup at Hudson.
