The Quincy Orioles middle school track and field team wrapped up their season at the regional meet in Bangor, competing alongside 18 other schools in a highly competitive day of events. After severe storms passed through the area earlier in the day, the weather cleared and turned into a beautiful evening for athletes to compete. The Orioles took advantage of the improved conditions, with many athletes earning personal-best performances throughout the meet. The regional meet brought out strong competition, and Quincy athletes continued to show determination all day. Medals were awarded to the top six athletes in each individual event, while the top three relay teams also earned medals. Several Orioles stepped onto the podium with outstanding performances against a talented field of competitors. The following athletes received medals in their events: Boys Grayson Sergent 6th in the 70m Corbin Brewer 4th in the 200m Johnny Bassage 4th in the 55 hurdles, 6th in the 200 hurdles The boys 4x100 team of Talon Thomas, Tommy Thomas, Brendon Preston, and Grayson Sergent took third. Girls Bailey Porter 4th in the 100m, 3rd in the 200m. 2nd in the 400m Lauren Tappenden 3rd in the 800m, 1st in the mile Cadence Johnson 6th in shot put London Sims 5th in high jump Madelyn Shilling 5th in long jump Now that the regional meet is done, all that is left for the season is the MEGASTAR meet in Lowell on May 27, where athletes that have met established standards will compete at a state level.
