The Quincy Varsity Orioles headed to Olivet for Thursday’s doubleheader, earning a 10-6 victory in game one before narrowly falling 10-9 in an exciting second game. In the opener, Quincy jumped out to an early lead with strong offensive production in the first two innings. Josi Parker and Miley Poindexter helped spark the offense, while the Orioles continued to apply pressure throughout the game. Olivet responded with a big second inning to take a brief lead, but Quincy answered back in the fifth and never looked back. Taylor Lewis earned the complete-game victory in the circle, working all seven innings while recording six strikeouts. Quincy also showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks and turning a double play defensively. Parker and Hannah Brown each collected two hits in the win, while Poindexter contributed both at the plate and on the bases. Ary’Annah Freeman also reached base multiple times to help fuel the offense. Game two featured another strong offensive showing from the Orioles, who collected 15 hits in a hard-fought one-run contest. Quincy built an early lead behind timely hitting from Parker, Mackenzie Sattison, and Brown. Taylor Lewis added an RBI with a sacrifice fly as the Orioles continued to battle throughout the game. Trailing late, Quincy mounted an impressive comeback effort in the sixth inning and brought the tying run into scoring position before Olivet held on for the narrow win. Parker and Sattison each recorded three hits in the second game, while Brown added two hits. Quincy also played solid defense with two double plays during the contest. The Orioles continue to show growth and competitiveness as they head into the final stretch of the season. Quincy will return to action Tuesday on the road against Reading.
