The Quincy Varsity Orioles opened their Big 8 doubleheader at Maple Valley with an explosive offensive performance, rolling to a 10–6 win in Game 1 before Game 2 was suspended in a 5–5 tie after seven innings. In the opener, the Orioles racked up 15 hits, with the heart of the lineup leading the charge. Christian Craven, JJ Wright, and Bryson Estlow each collected three hits, combining for multiple RBIs and extra-base hits. Wright highlighted the day with his second triple of the season, while Kale Dirschell added his sixth double. Seth VanStelle and Cobee Stevens also contributed multi-hit efforts, and Joe Gray and Dirschell delivered key run-scoring at-bats to keep the offense rolling. On the mound, Stevens earned the win, striking out four over four innings, while Gray secured the save. The Orioles’ pitching staff combined for six strikeouts. Defensively, Quincy overcame seven errors thanks in part to strong play behind the plate from Estlow. Game 2 saw Quincy jump out to an early 4–0 lead before Maple Valley battled back to take a 5–4 advantage in the fifth inning. The Orioles responded in the bottom of the seventh, tying the game at 5–5 before play was suspended due to conditions. A continuation date has not yet been announced. Estlow and VanStelle stayed hot at the plate in Game 2, each recording two hits and driving in runs. Stevens, Gray, Matthew Taylor, and Andrew Dunn also added hits in the effort. Dirschell made a strong impact on the bases with three stolen bases. JJ Wright got the start on the mound in Game 2, followed by Dunn and Dirschell, who provided 2.1 effective innings of relief to keep the Lions in check. Quincy will return to practice as they prepare for the Dome Classic this Saturday, where they are set to open play against Jonesville at East Jackson.
