The Orioles kicked things off Friday night with a trip to the state capital, where players, coaches, and managers attended a Division I matchup between Michigan and Michigan State. The experience provided a great opportunity for the program to bond while also learning from high-level collegiate competition. Early Saturday morning, Quincy hosted the Oriole Classic, welcoming Constantine, Marcellus, and Adrian Madison. The Orioles opened the day with an impressive 10-3 win over Constantine to punch their ticket to the championship game. Quincy’s offense came alive with 15 hits, led by Hannah Brown, who delivered a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the plate. Brown consistently set the tone offensively, driving in key runs and proving to be a tough out all game long. Ary’Annah Freeman added a double and two RBIs, while Miley Poindexter chipped in with two hits and aggressive baserunning. The Orioles broke the game open with a six-run sixth inning, capitalizing on timely hitting and defensive miscues. In the circle, Taylor Lewis earned the win, allowing just two hits and one run over four innings while striking out five. Josi Parker was dominant in relief, striking out seven over three innings to close the door. In the championship game, Quincy faced Adrian Madison, who jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 15-3 final. Despite the result, the Orioles continued to compete, with Parker leading the offense with two hits, while Poindexter and Gracin Hemker added hits of their own. Beyond the scoreboard, the weekend showcased the depth and commitment of the Quincy program. Several JV players stepped into varsity roles and made meaningful contributions throughout the day. “Really proud of the way our girls stepped up when their number was called,” said the coaching staff. “It says a lot about the culture of our program and the work being done at every level.” The program also extends a thank you to Gracin, Emmalyn, and Kennedy for stepping up from JV, as well as Kloe, Paige, Paula, Morgan, Cali, Alice, and Kieran for their help with field maintenance and scoreboard duties throughout the tournament. Quincy Softball now turns its attention to a busy week ahead, with JV hosting games on Monday and Wednesday, and Varsity traveling to Olivet on Thursday.
