Track Has Big Night at Oriole Classic Invite

Quincy’s track and field teams delivered an impressive performance Friday night at the 12-team Oriole Classic Invite, with the boys capturing the team title (155 points) and the girls earning a solid fourth-place finish (96). The boys were led by a number of big individual and team performances. Clayton Benson, who swept both the 110m (15.22) and 300m (41.39) hurdles. Trey Powell added key points with fourth-place finishes in both events. Noah Kelley placed third in the 200m (24.06), while Grant Longardner took fifth in the 400m (55.98). Carter Feltner added a third-place finish in the 800m (2:14.61), and Hunter Walker placed third in the 3200m (10:46.07). The Orioles showed their depth in the relays as well. The 4x200 team earned third (1:51.07), while another relay group of Grant Longardner, Micah Groves, Austin Preston, and Noah Kelley also finished third. A freshman relay squad of Musser, House, James, and Marquart added points with a 1:51 performance. In the field events, Lincoln Sims led a dominant shot put group with a winning throw of 45’9”. Tayte Waddell (2nd, 43’2”), Tyler Miner (4th, 39’10.5”), and Isaiah Staggs (5th, 39’2”) all placed in the top five. Miner also took third in the pole vault (10’0”), with Austin Preston finishing fourth (9’6”). For the girls, Elizabeth Longardner had a big night, winning the 400m (1:01.81) and finishing second in the 200m (27.41). Kendyl Musielewicz added a runner-up finish in the 800m (2:40.26). Brookelyn Parker was one of the meet’s top performers, sweeping the hurdles with wins in the 100m (16.20) and 300m (46.97). In the field events, Addison Hasten had a big time night with first-place finishes in both shot put (33’8.5”) and discus (105’6.5”). Kali Kugler placed fourth in the long jump (13’6.75”), while Ashyln Fickle cleared her way to second in the high jump. The girls’ 4x200 relay team added a second-place finish (1:53.51) to cap off the night. Overall, Quincy’s depth and consistency across events powered the boys to a team title and the girls to a strong top-four finish. They will host a Big 8 Jamboree on Wednesday at Quincy for Senior Night.
