The Quincy Middle School Orioles track and field team made a strong impression at their first invitational of the season, competing in a 12-team meet hosted in Union City under warm, sunny skies. The Quincy girls team placed 6th overall, tallying 50.5 points on the day. On the boys side, the Orioles captured a strong 5th-place finish, scoring 73.5 points. Both the boys and girls teams delivered solid performances, and top-five finishers in all events medaled. Some of our medalists of the night and their events were: DJ Poore 1st in 70m, 2nd in 100m LJay Stayner 5th in 800m Johnny Bassage 4th in 55H, 5th in 200H Talon Thomas 3rd in high jump Brenson Preston 4th in pole vault Bailey Porter 5th in 100m, 2nd in 200m, and 2nd in 400m Lauren Tappenden 4th in 800m. 5th in 1600m Cadence Johnson 3rd in shot put London Sims 4th in high jump Boys 4x100 Relay - 4th place team of Talon Thomas, Tommy Thomas, Brendon Preston, and DJ Poore. Boys 4x200 Relay - 3rd place team of Luis Corona, Johnny Bassage, Lane Wood, and Corbin Brewer. Boys 4x400 Relay - 4th place team of Lane Wood, LJay Stayner, Hunter Martin, and Davin Musielewicz. Coaches were pleased with the team’s performance in their first invitational. The Orioles look to build on this momentum as the season continues.
