The QMS track team kicked off its season on April 14 with an exciting first meet, traveling for a tri-meet against Bronson, and host school Maple Valley. Despite the long bus ride, the trip proved to be well worth it, as the team was greeted with great weather and ideal conditions for competition. We are a very new team this year and for many of the athletes, this was their first ever meet. Nerves were certainly present. However, our Orioles came to compete and they showed great determination once the meet began. Coaches were pleased to see athletes supporting one another and stepping up to the challenge. A couple highlights of the night: Both the boys and girls 4x100 and 4x200 teams took first place at the meet. Teams were: Girls 4x100: Hayden Lukazcek, Allison Porter, Lauren Tappenden, and Bailey Porter; Girls 4x200: Lydia Hemker, Katherine Pengelly, Amberlyn Small, and Itza Rosas-Aguilar. Boys 4x100: Talon Thomas, Tommy Thomas, Brendon Preston, and DJ Poore; Boys 4x200: Luis Corona, Johnny Bassage, Lane Wood, and Corbin Brewer. Cadence Johnson took first in shot. Talon Thomas took first in the high jump. The young Orioles run again on April 15 - back to back - in Homer. Join us there for a start time of 4:30.
