The Quincy Varsity Orioles dropped both games of a Big 8 Conference doubleheader to Stockbridge on Tuesday, falling 7-5 in Game 1 and 14-3 in Game 2. In the opener, Quincy came out strong, jumping to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Mackenzie Sattison got things started with an RBI single, Taylor Lewis added a sacrifice fly, and Ary’Annah Freeman delivered a two-run single to cap the early surge. Stockbridge battled back, tying the game in the fourth inning before taking control in the sixth with a series of timely hits to secure the 7-5 win. Freeman led Quincy with two RBIs, while Sattison, Josi Parker, Shaylee Cope, and Miley Poindexter each recorded a hit. The Orioles showed patience at the plate, drawing six walks, and were aggressive on the bases with five steals, including multiple from Poindexter and Gracin Hemker. In Game 2, Quincy again got on the board early, with Josi Parker helping spark the offense in the first inning. However, Stockbridge responded with big innings in the second and third to pull away. Stockbridge added to its lead later in the game, including an inside-the-park home run in the fifth, on the way to a 14-3 victory. Poindexter led the Orioles with two hits, while Parker, Cope, and Gabby Norris each drove in a run. Quincy remained active on the bases with five more stolen bases and played a clean game defensively without committing an error. The Orioles will look to bounce back as they continue conference play on Friday at Springport.
