The Quincy Orioles baseball team earned a Big 8 Conference sweep of Stockbridge on Tuesday, winning 13-8 in Game 1 and 18-0 in Game 2. In the opener, Quincy battled back from an early deficit, tying the game in the fifth inning before breaking it open with a big sixth inning to secure the 13-8 win. Cobee Stevens started on the mound, striking out seven over three innings. Despite several defensive miscues that led to unearned runs, the Orioles settled in behind Kale Dirschell, who earned the win with three strong innings, allowing just one hit while striking out four. JJ Wright closed out the game as Quincy pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts. Offensively, the Orioles pounded out 16 hits, led by Joe Gray’s perfect 4-for-4 performance with two RBIs from the leadoff spot. Bryson Estlow added three hits, while Stevens, Christian Craven, and Ethan Drumm each had two hits. Drumm drove in three runs, and Wright added two RBIs. Quincy also stayed aggressive on the bases, stealing seven bases, with Gray swiping three and Craven adding two. In Game 2, Quincy took control early and never looked back in an 18-0 victory. JJ Wright was dominant on the mound, tossing three no-hit innings with six strikeouts. Seth Van Stelle followed with two scoreless innings, striking out three, as the Orioles combined on a one-hitter and played error-free defense. The Orioles struck early and exploded offensively, scoring in every inning, including an eight-run third and a seven-run fifth. Joe Gray continued his big day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with multiple RBIs and two stolen bases. He finished the doubleheader with seven hits overall. Kale Dirschell and Matthew Taylor each drove in two runs, while Drew Carlisle added two hits in limited at-bats. Andrew Dunn also contributed an RBI hit. Quincy showed patience and pressure offensively, drawing seven walks and stealing eight bases in the game. The Orioles have a day off in a busy week before returning to action Thursday at Hanover Horton and finishing the week with a makeup doubleheader at Springport on Friday.
