The Quincy softball team faced strong competition Saturday at the Marshall Sportsfest, dropping both contests to Mason (12-2) and Bath (11-5) to move to 4-2 on the season. In the opening game, Quincy fell to Mason 12-2. Mason jumped out to an early lead and continued to add on throughout the game. The Orioles collected hits from Taylor Lewis, Shaylee Cope, and Gabby Norris, while Hannah Brown and Norris each drove in a run. Josi Parker took the loss in the circle, striking out five. In the second game, Quincy battled more evenly with Bath before falling 11-5. The Orioles showed resilience early, responding to a first-inning deficit by scoring four runs to take a 4-3 lead. Gabby Norris and Taylor Lewis each delivered RBI singles in the inning. The game remained close, with Quincy tying it at 5-5 in the third, but Bath pulled away with a five-run fourth inning to take control. Makiya Feltner led the Orioles at the plate, going 3-for-3, while Norris added two hits and Josi Parker drove in two runs. Taylor Lewis contributed two hits, and additional singles came from Miley Poindexter, Shaylee Cope, and Mackenzie Sattison. Across both games, Quincy pitchers Josi Parker, Hannah Brown, and Taylor Lewis shared time in the circle and combined for solid efforts. Defensively, the Orioles committed just three errors on the day, though a few extended innings proved costly. Feltner and Norris were named Players of the Day, each collecting three hits. Coaches were encouraged by the team’s effort and competitiveness, especially when playing from behind. Quincy will look to bounce back Tuesday at home against Big 8 Conference opponent Stockbridge.
