The Quincy varsity softball team opened the 2026 season with an impressive pair of wins over Hillsdale at home. In Game 1, Quincy rolled to a 13-3 victory behind a combined no-hitter from Hannah Brown and Taylor Lewis. The duo teamed up for seven strikeouts in the five-inning contest to lead the Orioles in the circle. Offensively, Mackenzie Sattison had a perfect day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Miley Poindexter, Josi Parker, Gabby Norris, and Taylor Lewis each added hits, while Shaylee Cope contributed a double. Quincy was aggressive on the basepaths, stealing 12 bases, led by Poindexter with four and Riley Myers with three. Game 2 began as a defensive battle, with the teams locked in a scoreless tie heading into the fourth inning. After Hillsdale scored two runs in the top half, Quincy responded with a 10-run inning to seize control, then added two more in the fifth to secure a 12-2 win. Josi Parker earned the complete-game victory, striking out seven. She also led the offense with a standout performance, recording a triple and an inside-the-park home run while driving in five runs. Poindexter added two hits and three RBIs, while Sattison continued her strong start with two more hits. Norris and Myers each chipped in with a hit. Sattison and Parker were named Players of the Game for the season opener. Quincy also extended thanks to the Quincy Athletic Boosters for their support, including the recent addition of a field tarp that helped make the games possible despite rainy conditions. The Orioles will travel to Springport on Tuesday to open Big 8 Conference play.
